The Post Office Employees Credit Union is required to make changes to your loan accounts to remain in compliance with Regulation Z of the Federal Reserve. These changes have come about because of the Credit Card Act of 2009. As you may be aware, many credit card issuers unilaterally raised interest rates on consumer credit cards, causing many consumers to pay outrageous interest rates. The Post Office Employees Credit Union has NEVER subscribed to this practice and has held VISA Credit Card Interest at 12.9% APR since the inception of our card program in 1998. Nevertheless, in accordance with this regulation, all financial institutions have to make changes.

In order to provide you with the convenience that you have been accustomed to, including easy access to our loan approval process, avoiding unnecessary trips into the office every time you apply for a loan, and ensuring that we keep costs down, the following changes must be made:

• You will begin to receive a monthly statement on your loan.
• Due dates will be the 28th of each month.

 

There will be no changes to the way you currently make your payments, whether it is bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or for our retirees, monthly. These changes reflect only a paperwork change; your APR will remain the same, your payment frequency will remain the same, and you will still pay your loan off as scheduled.
